Home Remedies For Bronchitis

Bronchitis is considered as an inflammation which occurs in the bronchial tubes in the lungs. Bronchitis is identified with the symptoms of a persistent cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and chest discomforts. Bronchitis can be classified into two types like acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis. It may be caused by the following reasons like smoking, air pollution also through some virus and bacteria. Some of the effective home remedies to get escaped from the effects of bronchitis are derived below.



Turmeric is a natural medicine for bronchitis. Turmeric helps in clearing the mucus which is the greater discomfort in the lungs. Their anti-inflammatory property provides relief from bronchitis. Take a spoon of turmeric powder mixed with hot milk. Consume it twice a day on an empty stomach to get better results.

Salt Water

Gargling with the salt water gives a great relief from the irritation caused in the throat region due to bronchitis. Take some salt stir it well with the warm water and gargle with it for two or three times a day.



Honey treatments are the best home remedies for bronchitis. It helps in building up the immune system, also its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties fight against the viruses of bronchitis. Honey gives good relief to the throat which got affected by bronchitis.  Take a spoon of honey mixed up with a pinch of black pepper, little ginger paste and two teaspoons of clove powder. Consume this paste whenever you feel a burning sensation in your chest.

Eucalyptus Oil


Eucalyptus oils are rich with its antibacterial properties. Steam therapy through eucalyptus oil gives immense relief from the effects of bronchitis. Take a tub of steaming water, add few drops of eucalyptus oil to it cover your head and face with a towel and start inhaling and exhaling the steam. This steam therapy will greatly help to soften the mucus.
